We need some tips on living in Las Vegas, we would like to know an estimate of the cost of living, and utilities. And if you happen to know where a good area for us to look for apartments in Vegas, we have 2 small children but we still need to think affordable housing. Please help!

you wanna look for places out towards Summerlin. West LV to maybe north LV Most places close to the strip are horrible and dangerous. East LV is pretty bad too. When i lived there i was paying $700 for a one bedroom apt. A 2 bedroom might run around $1000-1300 for a decent one. Which is still pretty good considering i live in So Cal now and i’m paying $1600 for a one bedroom. Go to Rent.com or apartmentfinder.com and you can check them out. You should definitely physically look at the places before you move in. It may look good in the picture but in real life it could be crappy.I looked at about 20 places before i decided on one. Check out the surrounding neighborhood and make sure its safe and somewhere you want to live and raise your kid. One option that you have is low income apts. There is a really nice brand new complex only a few years old right before you enter LV. Its probably a mile or 2 from the freeway in southwest LV. not sure what its called though. Its really cheap but there is a waiting list and some requirments. Check it out. Good Luck
Try lookin in Henderson area.
The further from the strip the better. The Southwest is a newer area and still building up. A lot of younger families have purchases houses in that area. It is outside of the 215 from Jones and west from there. Still has desert area out that way but quiet and safer than most. Schools are newer since it is a new area. Problem is there is no bus service to that part of the valley.
Food is actually pretty reasonable here except for bread. There is no local big name bakery here so all bread is trucked in from California. Utilities are high. Look for electric bill to be between $200 and $400 per month during the summer depending on the size and age of your home. Look for car license to be around $1000 a year depending on value and age of your car. Auto insurance is very high here.
