I live on the north shore mate, there’s hardly any scumbags out here. Much of em come out west and eastern suburbs (kingscross , randwick)
North shore is safe as mate.
Well we do have footpaths and there’s hardly any buildings that looks like 100 years old. Most of em have been built in the 20s & the 30s. But yeah we do have **** loads of bums all over the place. And as for scumbags…well not all of us are scums but much of em come from the western suburbs and the rest come out from the eastern suburbs. Particularly kingscross and randwick, As for me I reside on the northern beaches. Safest spot in the land.
Melbourne also has a harbour, Victoria Harbour, there is also a new Harbour Town shopping centre there, an Icehouse, and a Southern Star, High Rise, Bars, cafes and more,
Melbourne is the Fashion, Shopping, and IT capital of Australia, Melbourne has also been rated the most livable city in the world more than once! Melbourne’s also has Australia’s fastest internet speed with Telstra which is 100mbps, and will be 200mbps by mid 2010
Melbourne is the same in cost with Sydney, but with Melbourne, only the west/north are low cost to live, sydney don’t have that, sydney streets look like there from 100 years ago, there are no foot path, and even them home cost a lot, and the home aren’t even that good
And the setting in Sydney is heaps better. It’s just the really poor distribution of wealth and drug and gang violence.
Compared to other cities in the world, like Rio de Janeiro Brazil, Bogota Colombia and even L.A. and Washington DC Sydney is like heaven.
Compared to other Aussie cities it is pretty scummy. Sydney is better if you are rich or are a tourist, because all around the harbour and north-shore are perfect.
That said, I would rather live in Melbourne than Sydney any day. Canberra is my first choice, though.

Sydney isn’t even a good city, been there lot’s of times and there are lot’s of homeless people, if you like Homeless people, if you like trains with no air con, and streets that look like there from over 100 years ago with no foot paths, and an unsafet city, than go to sydney but you would have to lower your standard, if anyone wan’t to know in full, message me and i’ll be happy to reply!
A friend of my mine got shot in Sydney, and i have seen so many attacks there it’s not funny, in Melbourne you never see anyone get attacks and in Melbourne it’s much safer

I am from regional NSW (a small town) but I have been to Sydney lots of times and from what I’ve seen, the only nice places in Sydney are:
Around the harbour – like right in the centre
The northshore. It’s pretty much the only nice place in Sydney to live
The Blue Mountains. I have relatives there, it’s really cosy and cultural
Apart from those (and don’t misunderstand me, the places I’ve listed are GREAT), most of Sydney is poor and violent. Especially Campbelltown and Blacktown.
