@U2FAN1992 he’s entitled to an opinion more than you
show some respect boy
Patrese could have been at Tabac & JH would have blamed him.
@Kimster1987 Oh…well I meant to say that. Thanks for correcting me.
You´re right about Hunt. But Piquet´s suspension collapsed because he hit Patrese.
=)
“I would like to say Patrese drove into him…”
Of course James Hunt would say that. He hated Patrese. Hunt blamed Riccardo for Ronnie Peterson’s death at Monza in 1978…what the stupid, toffee nosed bastard didn’t realise was that on this occasion, neither driver was to blame. Piquet’s suspension collapsed, hence the shower of sparks, he twitched, tagged Patrese’s rear wheel… and the rest is history.
man f1’s never been the same since murray walker retired from commentry
correct.
@dave41184
Everyone still does!
i use to buy the magazine GRAND PRIX INTERNATIONAL
and for that race there’s a photo directly above the spot where PIQUET tried to pass PATRESE , and right at that moment it shows PIQUET’S rear shock /suspension collapse, that’s what caused the crash .
Marshalls wouldn’t be that brave/stupid today… legends
james hunt what aloser………
Except James Hunt it would seem.
Quite possibly the best commentary ever!
I laughed at that too
‘He only had 1 wheel at the end of that…quite a good result!’
LEGEND!
Generally, I liked James Hunt but there’s no question that he really had it in for Patrese.
As I understand it, James despised Patrese because he blamed him (as many did, perhaps unfairly) for Ronnie Petersen’s fatal crash.
I know he was biased and I certainly don’t condone racism, but I think Hunt was great alongside Walker – they were perfect foils for each other, Walker naive, excitable and optomistic, Hunt pessimistic, opinionated and insightful.
Agree 100%
Hunt was a terrible commentator……hes completely biased in just about everything he says. Some of his comments on Satoru Nakajima were downright racist. The only commentator I disliked more then him was Bobby Unser for the Indycar races.
If anyone is interested about buying f1 dvds from me, then reply by clicking on my name. Then ’send message’. I sell basically every grand prix race from 1978 to 2008. Also, lots of unseen 1960’s/70s world feed races that were never seen in the UK and many other countries. For example, I have the 1975 Nurburgring (German) grand prix and many others that were never seen on British tv, before 1978. 1978 is on 17 dvds, so you can understand what range of footage I have.
Hunt was such a tosser towards Patrese. It’s quite obvious to me that Patrase didn’t see Piquet who was trying a silly overtake that was never going to work!
I’d say that accident was 50/50 because neither of them was prepared to back off, luckily no marshals got hit by any flying debris.
Everyone hated Piquet lol
Bet Hunt was hoping Patrese broke his neck haha.
well they are but they’ve modified monaco alot and it looks alot larger. they’ve taken alot of barriers out and stuff.
