Inquisit asked:
Do people from New York act differently from people living in California? I live in CA, Sacramento, and am planning to move to New York, I heard it’s for the ‘young and bold’ where dreams can be made and broken.

Are people cheap prescription drugs from New York ruder? What are they like? I don’t mind if New Yorkers are ruder, I just need to know so that I know what to expect and not take it personal. Thank you for your insight.

Yes they would still be sleeping if it’s 8am in New York
Well, you will have to have some warm winter clothes!!! Snow falls early in the year and stays late!!! This one time I lived in upstate New York (Plattsburgh), and we had snow falling in early June!!! I was playing badminton outside and saw the snow!!!
Now, that should answer your questions. The people some act rude, some are nice. Maybe if you put a smile on your face and be kind and not say “ohh yeah, it is much worse weather here than when I lived in California…………see what I am getting at????????
I’m from New York, originally. I wouldn’t say New Yorkers are rude–they’re unique. A little less superficial than most. They’ll cut you off in traffic–but they’ll signal first. They know how to walk and take public transportation. New Yorkers will give you the shirt off their back–if you need it–but, they’ll expect to get that shirt back at some point.
it is funny you asked because i just moved from new york to California. People in New York are actually nicer just because you here the word new yorker doesn’t mean that were mean we like to get to know everyone. Trust me I’m one of them and i have found that New York is nicer then California rude wise.
You need to be more specific. There is a big difference between the culture you find throughout New York State versus New York City. New York City is a high stress place to live. People in the city tend to be very opinionated and very blunt in there conversation. This can be interpreted as rude, but it’s just New York City culture. There are many good people there, but lot’s of really bad ones too. Some of the bad ones will happily take advantage of you if they think you are easy prey. Outside of New York City in other parts of New York State you will find a lot of natural beauty and in general, nice people.
I agree with Zen and Patty. If you are comparing the California lifestyle to that of New York City, there is a significant difference.
The California lifestyle if more laid back, especially compared to the focuses and harried New York lifestyle. New York is a financial center, a fashion capital, an advertising/marketing center, an entertainment center, etc., and the competition can be fierce. So New Yorkers may appear rude and rushed. But New Yorkers do stop and help and look out for their friends and neighbors.
Now, once you get out of the metropolitan area, such as upstate New York, you get into farmlands, wine country, ski areas, etc. Very much like Californians.
