Say beer in a typical pub in sydney. Also what size would you get for that compared to the average ‘pint’ you get here drugs online in England?

This site will give you serve sizes – price is comparable.
If you intend backpacking there are discounts as well as “happy hours” – Half-price etc .
ENJOY!!!
The standard beer in NSW is the schooner – three quarters of a pint – although some people drink middies (half a pint). Most pubs will also sell you a pint if you ask. There is also a 7oz glass but who wants to drink out of thimbles?
A schooner of Tooheys, Reschs or VB will cost about $3.50 – $3.80. You might find it a little cheaper in some pubs and clubs and more expensive in others. Usually, the more expensive the pub looks, the more expensive the beer is. Low alocohol and mid-strength beers are cheaper than full strength.
You’ve got some good answers above, so let me add that the ale known as Lord Nelson’ Blood at the following pub is beyond words marvelous – worth the price of a specialty brewed ale!
