Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Jules Munchin perform the “other” New York, New York… from the film version of “On The Town”

@JohnnyContagious
They obviously weren’t on the Empire State building because you could see it in the background. I suspect it was the RCA Building, now the GE Building AKA 30 Rock. And in the next shot they’re in the famous plaza at the bottom of that building.

i want to life in their time… i think the movies had so much more passion. awesome!
I can’t say I notice the difference, but I do know that he suffered from chronic vertigo. Watch his hands in the scene on top of the Empire State Building, they’re constantly reaching out for contact with Kelly and Sinatra because he was utterly petrified – there’s also a distinct look of terror on his face just before the end of the scene.
OMG cannot stop listening to the part where Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly sing!!!!!!!!!! Theyre soo **** and manly, if only they were still alive! RIP
I was in the navy and this is EXACTLY what it was like!
It’s a wonderful sooooooooooooong
Yes, and I can’t wait for season 4 on Netflix streaming.

When I grow up, I want to be a sailor
@matrxwmn Or maybe they don’t know how to bring it out.
Does anybody know why Jules Munshin (guy in the middle) sings differently in this movie than in “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”? His singing voice is much deeper in take me out to the ballgame
Thank you for posting this! I wish I could find it on itunes, then it would cheer me up all the time
faboulus ” ON THE TOWN” – MGM – 1955.-
People DO have talent today, they just don’t use it.
Gene taught Frank some slick dance moves and Frank taught Gene good singing technique. What a team.
Wow, such talent! If only people these days had such talent…

I was watching some docu on movies (thats entertainment maybe?) and they said Jules Muchen was afraid of heights, and if you watch when he’s on the roof he kinda keeps holding on Gene.
