Brisbane Roar v Sydney FC 30-01-2010
Brisbane Roar v Sydney FC 30-01-2010 theworldgame.sbs.com.au Roar dent Sydney hopes Brisbane re-ignited their A-League finals aspirations and ruined Sydney’s chance to move back into first place following a 1-0 win at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night. The night seemed destined to end in frustration for the Roar until the 88th minute, when a shot from Luke devere deflected off Sergio van Dijk to give the Queensland club their first win since December 19. The result lifted Brisbane to 30 points, just three behind sixth-placed Perth with two rounds remaining, while the sky blues missed the opportunity to leapfrog Melbourne and the Gold Coast back into first place. The match ended up being a harrowing experience for Dutch great Patrick Kluivert, who is having a coaching crash course with the Roar. The A-League may be a long way from the bright lights of European football, but in the first game of his two-week stopover, Kluivert watched Brisbane mentor Ange Postecoglou run the full gamut of emotions before his side clinched the victory. At times Kluivert, Holland’s all-time leading scorer, was up on his feet in sympathy with Postecoglou as the battling Roar threw everything at the title contenders until they finally broke through. For long periods the Roar couldn’t take a trick, as summed up by a 29th minute incident. Sydney FC keeper Clint Bolton appeared lucky to stay on the field after replays indicated he handled outside the area as he tried to blunt a Reinaldo raid. Postecoglou was filthy, kicking a water bottle under his sideline chair in frustration as Kluivert looked on. But the Roar coach had no complaints in the 88th minute when van Dijk notched his 13th goal of the season to notch their first win in five games and keep Brisbane’s finals hopes alive. The goal had Kluivert joining Postecoglou on his feet along with the majority of the 8613-strong crowd. buying prescription drugs online Kluivert, 33, arrived in Brisbane on Saturday morning for his fortnight stint ahead of a reported stay under Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan. And Postecoglou needed all the help he could get – boasting only four wins from 14 games since talking over in October. It was the end of another eventful week for Postecoglou with outspoken veteran Danny Tiatto officially being cut with the Roar, joining the likes of Craig Moore, Charlie Miller and Liam Reddy to have left since the new coach’s arrival. 30 January 2010 | 20:54 – AAP

@timtimtimtim83
How successful do you think he was a success with the young Socceroos?
That could be a good indication on how he’ll go.
I think Postecoglou will be good for Roar long term. There were clearly some disruptive influences in the Roar squad. (i.e. The Glasgow 3; Miller, Malcolm and Moore).
Good riddance to them.
Maybe not this year, but next year things will improve I believe.
lol true that. fucking massive **** he is.
Kruse invented dog hes a fucking manwhore
there players are leaving because of postenoclu not farina you **** wit now were stuck with the fucking wog who wont even get us to the finals
Why are so many players leaving Roar? What is so bad about Postecoglou he got South Melbourne to a grand final so he can obviously coach. Farina fucked up, they should get over it, it doesn’t mean stop playing good football. Roar are a joke, all their best players are going to the better team down the road. They should come to Glory at least we made the finals this season, and we consistently win at home, something Brisbane fans can only dream about hahahahahaha.
fucking attrocious referee and still the best team won against the odds. back to under 10’s for the ref.
fucking awful refereeing. really really awful.
@nostroKeeper
whether
and not “wether” a castrated male sheep kind
I agree with you 100% percent that Muscat SHOULD be banned even if it is his last few games etc etc but I just think he won’t. He clearly elbowed Culina in the face.
But I would think if he does get suspended, it will be either for 1 or 2 games and that may even get suspended as well letting him play against the Fury this Friday.
Gah i hope perth beat CCM today
Muscat should be banned for the rest of the season and fuckin retire that man is a fuckin idiot( good leader) but dirty shithead on the field also. I wish perth had a muscat and i’m pretty sure alot of teams do too but i also wouldn’t want him for the badname he brings, the man is the most dirty player i have seen.
haha ‘ray nel do!’
@FCMelbVictory
m8 you don’t get an argument from me PANTELIDIS should have been red carded and should get the maximum suspension from it.
Muscat should get a suspension as well even if “its the last few games of his career” & wether he was facing Culina or not has nothing to with it at all.
If you think that the GCU will miss PANTELIDIS as much as MV would miss Muscat you’re dreaming again m8
1. Fury vs Jets game will be played on Tuesday/
2. We all know Muscat won’t get suspended. He wasn’t facing the player when he hit him, so it won’t really be counted as intentional. But Panta will definitely get suspended because that was just dog what he did Kruse.
THANK YOUU BRISBANEE!!!
@nostroKeeper Its being replayed on Wednesday, which is fantastic, hopefully there all worn out for fridays game.
It would be completely horrid if Muscat got banned, seeing its the last few games of his career.
@LickMyLovePumpp
m8 keep your fingers crossed for
1 To when Furys (v Jets) game will be replayed
2 To Muscat not getting suspended
Brisbane i truly thank you.
As a Melbourne fan i really enjoyed this match. If GCU loose next week then ill be really happy.
@lgj99
That’s what GK’s are there for.
@lgj99 it was the referee and the post that kept sydney in the game crucial decisions by both of them
@tomwijgers
No Sydney had shots at goal and Ham made some great saves as did Bolton and his m8 (the goal post) but I only have 10 minutes.
I thought that these were the better highlights to show that explained the game.
But someone would probably chose a different 86minutes yes 86
It was Matt Ham that kept the roar in the game. Crucial saves to deny corica and aloisi.
yeah but sydney didn’t look like scoring. I wouldn’t say roar are doing well just cause they get one win, the first on about a month. If they make the finals in a late surge then I will say they did well, but roar are choke artists…always “just about there”
